Bill says hello

Hello all, my name is Bill Lakic.  I am an optometrist and work at OPSM in the Warwick branch in sunny Western Australia. I’ve been an optometrist for a bit over twenty years and two things strike me about this profession. Firstly, the impact we make on peoples lives. Look at less fortunate places on this world that are without proper eye care and you can see the devastating effect of uncorrected refractive impairment and untreated eye pathologies causing visual dysfunction. It affects the person, their family and their society. I feel so lucky to live in Australia.

Secondly, optometry as a profession is about change. We are rapidly advancing in our knowledge, our diagnostic and therapeutic skills and our ability to help safeguard our patients’ visual wellbeing. At the end of a big day (usually everyday is a big day!) besides feeling exhausted I also get that calm satisfied feeling that today I have made a difference in the life and wellbeing of so many people.
