I’ve been asked to tell you what it’s like being a store manager at Luxottica.
I have been a store manager at Miranda SGH for the past 18 years and I am still passionate about my position! The company has been very good over the years, for example letting me have extended time off a few years ago to take care of my Mom before she passed. The human resource manager even called me in the U.S. where my Mom was, and told me to take as long as I need and that my job would be here upon my return. She also said if I needed someone to talk to when she passed to call her. You never forget kindnesses like this and a lot of companies probably wouldn’t have made the extra effort.
As for the job itself, I still enjoy coming to work everyday so that says something! A lot of that has to do with my great team and my Area Manager Nadine. Luxottica is a great place to work as it is an exciting product. We get to sell people not just sunnies but a “look and attitude”. The company keeps things fresh and interesting with the campaigns, new products, incentives and just a general feeling that you are part of something great and exciting. I highly recommend Luxottica for anyone interested in the retail sector. Sorry about the rambling and have a great day!
Cheers, Brian

Hey Guys
It feels like forever since I’ve updated you on what’s been happening on the Coast.
As you know I was asked to join the field team on the trip to the Sunshine Coast…And all I can say is WOW WOW WOW. The PEOPLE were absolutely amazing. The passion they have for their business was at the top – really impressed.
I’ll give you a break down of what we did during the visits.
Day 1
Office day: With David and the Field Team, it was really really cool to sit out with the guys and go through business, what’s working, our opportunities and our people. It was great to get an insight on the other RMS and AMS business. After the office day we then headed to Mooloolaba…a beautiful place.
Day 2
The Field Team delivered their 2012 business plans. The business plans were sensational and it’s crazy but really good to see we are all in line with what we want and what we see as the QLD/WA next steps. We have a lot of good plans in place to execute in 2012. After the business plans we moved on to store visits and this truly was the best fun, seeing how engaged the team were was so so good. First up we met Amy from Bright Eyes Noosa. This chicky babe was full of excitement and told us all about her business.
Next up we had Sam from Sunglass Hut at Noosa…..amazing. The store was beautiful and this lady knew her business back to front and without delay. Sam told us all about the amazing crew that she worked with. You could tell Sam was really proud of her team.
We then jumped over to the Sunshine Plaza and met the amazing Hella…Oh this lady is brilliant and I don’t think you could meet someone more excited. We all had a good laugh with Hella as we got to know her business better – it was a lot of fun.
We had some fantastic experiences in QLD Central and we met some great people. Unfortunately if I was to write about them all this would end up as a novel and not a blog (ha ha).
So guys, plenty of great things happening on the Coast…it’s all Sunny
Hey everyone!
It’s Festival Season, and despite mother natures resistance to play along, the show’s must go on! This weekend, just been, I went to St Jerome’s Laneway Festival at the Sydney College of Arts. For those of you who don’t know it, Laneway is a boutique festival jam packed with indie pop/rock acts from around the world. On top of that, a purpose built market for emerging designers and vintage entrepreneurs to sell their stuff.
Aside from an awesome day of weather (hot hot hot Sydney Summer day) and incredible music, this festival, as always, proved to be just as much a Fashion Show as it was a music event. There were thousands of cutting edge fashionistas and fashion-Mr’s lurking around like they were in a photo shoot. For me, the thing I took most notice of, was obviously eyewear.
The coolest thing about 80% of these fashion rats was that they were completely on trend, adopting early what is emerging from the up coming European winter season. Most noticeably, colour and shape being the main trends.
Bright bold colours were everywhere. And, a lot of frames with prints or patterns worn with clashing printed shirts. Paisley vs polka dot and nautical vs floral. Very cool, for those who are brave enough.
Almost every thing was either in a chunky plastic frame or a thin, delicate metal. Either way, round was the most prominent shape with many variations of the retro look that John Lennon carved into history floating around, mostly on the guys.
Of the big name brands, Persol and Ray Ban were the obvious choices for many, sticking to to the bold classics of days gone by. In Ray Ban, you were either team Wayfarer, or team Aviator. For Persol, you were either chunky plastic, or fine metal framed.
In summary, the vibe was bold, but classic. Be creative when choosing your sunnies. They say a lot about a personality and it’s the first thing people notice when they look at you. Make it count!
Hey Hey

Next week is going to be sooooo good. I’ve been asked to go to the Sunshine Coast to check out all the stores with the rest of the Field Team.. So can’t wait to get down there to see how these guys operate.
Must say the Gold Coast stores are looking mighty fine with all the newness coming in.

Hey Guys
Me again !!!
Had to fill you in on another fabulous day.
Started the day off holding the weekly conference call for the region, it went really well.
Once a week we take half an hour out of the day to discuss all things business.
So my day was set off to Robina. I went ready to start out another day and help our customers find their perfect match.
Whilst on the phone (typical) walking to the store I noticed a crew walking around the centre wearing OneVision t-shirts… I though to myself, I’ve seen that logo.. That’s our OneSight crew!
They continued walking past our OPSM store and Ryan is in store with a a bunch of happy children.
So later in the day I start reading through my emails and realise it’s our OneSight Team here to launch the Australian Indigenous program OneVision! This was launched today at the NRL’s Indigenous All Stars Festival.
The program is all about educating the Indigenous communities about the importance of eye health and improve access to there current services. How cool is this?
So I’m thinking I might go introduce myself and then Carmen walks in (Carmen is from our OneSight Team and is the glue to this amazing organisation) And introduces herself and says, ‘hey would you guys like to help the kids pick out some sunglasses?’…. We were like YES !!!!!!!!
So we had 12 kids come into the store and pick out a new pair of sunglasses. These kids were just gorgeous and were so keen on learning how to look after there new pair of Sunglasses.
It was another great day in Sunglass Hut Land…And amazing to see the phenomenal things our business does.
All the kids gave Carmen and big hug afterwards and it was heart warming.
If you want to read more on our OneVision program..Check out our Facebook Page.
